Complete Listening Catalog
Neoclassical Rock Guitar & Original Compositions
Renaissance, Baroque, Rock, and Metal Works
✠
I am an instrumental rock guitarist and composer whose original music brings Baroque, Renaissance, Medieval, hard rock, and heavy metal traditions into a single body of work. This catalog is organized according to musical language and historical influence rather than chronology.
Renaissance & Medieval-Inspired Rock Guitar
These compositions draw upon Renaissance lute music, modal harmony, drones, early counterpoint, dance forms, binary structure, and open sonorities. Some are based on surviving works by Renaissance composers; others use the musical language and atmosphere of early music as the foundation of entirely original rock guitar compositions.
The historical influence is structural rather than decorative. Melody, harmony, texture, rhythm, and form are allowed to grow from the underlying early-music language instead of being added as a superficial medieval effect.
Brothers
Rock composition based on music by Francis Cutting
Brothers is a rock guitar composition based on a work by the English Renaissance lutenist Francis Cutting. It adapts the melody and character of the original lute piece to electric guitar while preserving the directness and clarity that make Renaissance music so enduring.

A Yankee in Sleepy Hollow
Original Renaissance-inspired rock guitar composition
A Yankee in Sleepy Hollow is one of the most recent compositions in my catalog and one of my personal favorites. Unlike many of my works, it was largely unplanned, developing naturally in the studio through improvisation before taking on its final form. Inspired by Washington Irving's legendary village of Sleepy Hollow, it combines Renaissance-inspired musical language with expressive rock guitar to create one of the most spontaneous and fully realized pieces I have written.

Old Rip Van Winkle
Original Renaissance-inspired rock guitar composition
Old Rip Van Winkle is an original rock guitar composition inspired by Washington Irving's classic tale. Although its Renaissance influence is less immediately apparent than in some of my other works, the piece is deeply rooted in Renaissance modal thinking and draws much of its character from that underlying musical language. The result is a more modern-sounding rock instrumental whose structure nevertheless owes a great deal to Renaissance lute music.

Rosewood
Original Renaissance lute-inspired rock guitar composition
Rosewood is an original rock guitar composition inspired by Renaissance lute music. Rather than simply borrowing the atmosphere of the Renaissance, the piece draws upon its modal language, melodic independence, and transparent musical texture while presenting these ideas through a modern electric guitar.

Chainmail
Short Renaissance lute-inspired metal composition in binary form
Chainmail is a short but energetic metal composition inspired by Renaissance lute music and written in binary form. Although brief, it demonstrates how a simple Renaissance formal design can provide the framework for a modern instrumental metal composition.

Baroque-Inspired Rock Guitar
These works either arrange Baroque compositions directly for rock guitar or bring recognizable Baroque procedures into original rock and metal compositions. Their musical language includes sequence, motivic development, imitation, contrapuntal movement, directed voice leading, dramatic harmonic motion, and the use of independent instrumental parts.
The purpose is not simply to place fast scales or arpeggios over a heavy rhythm section. These compositions treat Baroque music as a structural language capable of shaping complete works for electric guitar.
Legacy of the Red Priest
Hard rock arrangement of Vivaldi’s Cello Concerto in G minor, RV 417
Legacy of the Red Priest is my hard rock arrangement of the first movement of Antonio Vivaldi’s Cello Concerto in G minor, RV 417. The arrangement translates the concerto’s rhythmic drive, compact motives, sequential development, and sharp dramatic contrasts into a complete rock setting centered on electric guitar.

Vivaldi’s Storm
Hard rock arrangement of Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in D minor, RV 813
Vivaldi’s Storm is my hard rock arrangement of the first movement of Antonio Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in D minor, RV 813. The music’s urgency, restless motion, and tightly organized ritornello structure are recast through electric guitar, bass, drums, and the physical force of a rock performance.

Teutonic Knights
Original neoclassical hard rock composition
Teutonic Knights belongs in this division because of its extensive Vivaldi-inspired guitar solo. The solo develops a compact melodic idea through repetition, sequence, rhythmic contrast, changes of register, harmonic reinterpretation, and chromatic inflection. It is one of the clearest examples in my catalog of Baroque developmental thinking applied to an original neoclassical rock guitar solo.

Minuet in G Major, BWV Anh. 114
Rock guitar arrangement of the minuet by Christian Petzold
My arrangement of the familiar Minuet in G Major, BWV Anh. 114 translates Christian Petzold’s graceful keyboard miniature into a rock guitar setting. Long associated with J. S. Bach because of its appearance in the 1725 Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach, the minuet is now attributed to Petzold.

Rock & Metal
These compositions inhabit the broad musical language of classic rock, hard rock, melodic heavy metal, and instrumental guitar music. Although several contain Baroque, Renaissance, or neoclassical inflections, they range from lighter rock ballads to technically demanding metal works. They are unified by memorable themes, expressive guitar playing, and an emphasis on complete musical architecture rather than technical display alone.
Templar
Technically relentless shred and melodic metal instrumental
Templar is one of the oldest compositions in my catalog and remains my flagship shred guitar piece. Combining relentless technical demands with memorable melodic lines, it reflects my early fascination with melodic heavy metal while striving to place musical ideas above technique for its own sake.

Eagle of the Gospel
Original hard rock instrumental with neoclassical inflections
Eagle of the Gospel, originally released many years ago under the title Eagle Lord, is the oldest surviving composition in my catalog. Although one of my earliest works, it contains many of the melodic ideas that would later come to define my writing. For that reason it remains one of my most nostalgic pieces and is presently scheduled to receive a complete rerecording.

Archangel Raphael
Rock ballad dedicated to God’s healing Archangel
Archangel Raphael, originally released many years ago under a different title, is the second oldest surviving composition in my catalog after Eagle of the Gospel. It remains one of my personal favorites: a melodic rock ballad built around memorable themes, soaring guitar solos, and one of my favorite arpeggiated passages near the conclusion of the work.

The Fall of Arthur and Mordred
Recent melodic heavy metal composition with three principal guitar solos
The Fall of Arthur and Mordred is one of the most recent compositions in my catalog. Inspired by the final battle between King Arthur and Mordred, it combines memorable melodic themes with three extended guitar solos that unfold across the course of the work. The recording also reflects the considerable development of my recording, mixing, and mastering techniques since the release of Legacy of the Red Priest, while featuring what I consider to be one of my strongest hard rock and heavy metal guitar tones.

In This Sign, You Will Conquer
Classic melodic heavy metal instrumental
In This Sign, You Will Conquer is a melodic heavy metal instrumental built around memorable themes and blazing guitar solos. Although I remain very proud of the composition itself, the recording reflects an earlier stage in my development as a recording engineer. As my approach to recording, mixing, mastering, and guitar tone has evolved—particularly my preference for a much drier, less reverberant sound—the work is presently being rerecorded while preserving the original musical ideas.

Forthcoming Works
The following compositions are presently in development. Their arrangements, instrumentation, and final forms may continue to evolve as each work moves from its initial conception to a completed score, performance, and recording.
Dour-Handed
Moody rock ballad inspired by Túrin Turambar
Dour-Handed is a moody rock ballad inspired by the tragic figure of Túrin Turambar. Conceived to reflect his severity, isolation, strength, and burden of fate, the work promises to become one of my personal favorites. It also features what I consider to be some of the finest single-coil Stratocaster-through-Marshall guitar tone I have yet recorded, balancing warmth, clarity, and expressive dynamics within a dark, atmospheric setting.

The Headless Hessian and Ichabod Crane
Dark neoclassical metal composition
The Headless Hessian and Ichabod Crane is a dark neoclassical metal work inspired by Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Conceived as one of the heaviest compositions in my catalog, it combines ominous thematic writing, dramatic contrasts, and soaring neoclassical guitar. A short preview currently available on Rumble captures me recording one of the composition's bombastic Phrygian dominant guitar solos in my "studio" (better described as my back porch), offering an early glimpse of the work while it remains in development.

Christ God
Redemptive rock guitar ballad
Christ God is a deeply reflective rock guitar ballad centered on the desire to hold fast to Christ during times of sorrow, suffering, and uncertainty. Though melancholy in character, the work looks beyond despair toward the quiet hope found in remaining faithful. A brief preview currently available on Rumble captures me recording some of the composition's principal melodic ideas while the work remains in development.

Scores, Guitar Tabs & Educational Study Editions
My long-term goal is to transform every major composition in this catalog into a complete educational edition. These editions will allow guitarists and composers to study not only isolated licks or technical exercises, but the relationship between musical conception, complete form, arrangement, performance, and recording.
Depending upon the composition, a study edition may include a full score, guitar tablature, Guitar Pro files, backing tracks, performance notes, measure-by-measure analysis, and an extended lesson module. Materials will be identified as available, in development, or planned as the catalog is completed.
The Repertoire as a Complete Guitar Curriculum
These compositions form the foundation of my teaching philosophy: performance, composition, music theory, arranging, improvisation, and recording are best understood through the careful study of complete musical works.
An isolated scale can develop a physical movement, and an exercise can clarify a technical problem. Neither by itself explains why a melody should rise, why a harmony should change, why a bass line should move against the guitar, why a phrase should be repeated or transformed, or how an arrangement should develop across an entire composition.
The complete work supplies that unity. Technique becomes the means by which a musical idea is expressed. Theory reveals the organization of the language. Arrangement gives every part a purpose. Recording preserves the dynamics, balance, tone, and character of the performance. My original repertoire therefore serves simultaneously as artistic output, instructional material, and the basis of a complete curriculum in neoclassical rock guitar and guitar composition.
